I'm devastated.

I sort of knew it could happen, and rather suspected it would, though I obviously hoped it wouldn't. I so wanted Severus to live...he deserved it, suffering so much for people who hated him and would only later learn how they were able to win the war due mainly to his sacrifices. crying

I am naturally very pleased he was vindicated (but I knew that would happen, he just couldn't be evil), but it is an empty vindication as he also happens to be (canonly, at least) dead. *insert absolutely destitue and ultimately pathetic wailing noises that last forever here*

So yeah, I am aware that I am pathetic for mourning a literary, fictional character. But all the same, I loved that character more than any character ever, even after all the books, manga, movies, anime, TV shows and video games I've read, seen and played.

So it naturally angers and saddens me to no end that Rowling decided to kill him. crying As an aspiring author I can understand that - you've got to write the story you've got to write or hate yourself forever - but still...I couldn't so brutally kill off my characters the way she did hers, fake story people or not. I can't even let my Sims die for heaven's sake; I turn off the game and don't save if they do.

Did I mention I was pathetic? *sad smile, but there's no emoticon for that*

So, yeah. Sad its over, sad at the ending (though Harry's naming his son 'Albus Severus Potter' touched me). It was excellent, very fascinating, but the fourth book will remain my favourite by far.
