Well today was ok. Since the Cup is fast approaching, Mr. Blackburn did some mini competitions and what not among the kids, just to prepare them for what was ahead. Me, jon and nick had to lead our own little pattern competitions with whichever belt we had and try to make them a little bit more competition worthy. my group was mostly ok, they were just way to quiet. After years of competition, canterbury has come to be known for it's phenomenal energy; we've got power, exitement, enthusiasm, and above all, we're LOUD!
During blackbelt class Mr. blackburn had a free sparring competition for the colour belts and then went through kumgang with the blanck belts. Kumgang is an incredibly difficult pattern to perfect because the timing is really weird and you have to put alot into making it flow smoothly. I didn't realie that I hadn't been taught the normal way, only the harder, more advanced way all this time. i also didn't realize exactly how talented the blackbelts really are! It's really quit mind boggling.
During sparring class, Mr. Blackburn painstakingly organized a provincial style competition, with multiple different divisions. I beat MT 19-4, but lost to Olivia 4-1 because she's so tall I could kick anywhere near her! I had to rethink my entire kicking distance. Oh well, I don't really care all that much because I got to sit and talk to MT and Anna for the remainder of the class. In any event, I came in third, because Olivia was beaten by Michelle, which is kinda funny because I have no trouble beating Michelle. John and JT were a division all there own, which is quite funny. JT ended up winning, making a comeback late in the second round. It was quite impressive.
anywho, later girls.
