Champagne’s Log; DC date Monday July 9, 2007.
Today is our third full day here in DC, the United States capitol. All has been going fairly well though the first full day was fairly miserable. As the days have been progressing, they have been getting better though I fear it is only because we did one think I liked yesterday and most all of today was spent at a shopping mall at my request. I hope it doesn’t get worse from now on out.
Yesterday, late at night when all the lights were turned off I realized that I didn’t know the location of my ring and spent a few minutes searching for it by the light of my MP3 player. I was searching in the bathroom when my mother called my name and asked the occupation of my movements and thoughts. I replied that I was searching for my ring and she told me that she’d help me look for it in the morning. I proceeded to cry myself to sleep. When I awoke, I lay in bed for a while and proceeded to get up after some time. I took a shower and then looked for my ring where I was unsuccessful in locating it. My mom said to leave a note for the housekeeping ladies and see if they could keep an eye out for it.
We then went on a tour in an amphibious vehicle (they have both wheels and boat mechanics) and driving into and out of the water was lots of fun, once you got past the slightly terrifying concept of it. After completing the tour, we crammed five people into a small taxi and took a long and noisy drive to the shopping mall. Once there, I managed to walk all around, help my brother find some gifts for his girlfriend and annoy my mom and brother (my dad and grandma were off at a woodwork, quilting and kaleidoscope museum) with my frantic souvenir shopping for friends. I did, however, manage to find gifts for three of my friends which I thought was all but one of them but it worried me the more I thought about it and realized I had four more friends to buy gifts for. I do have one gift that can be given to one of the four other friends if I don’t find something for them but I am still freaking out.
Well, when we got back to the hotel it was SUPER hot and the hotel room was nice and cool and it just felt wrong to be wearing jeans in such a nice and unnaturally cool room. So, I went to my suitcase to grab my pj pants and, lo and behold, there was my ring. I was so happy, I danced around the room (figure of speech, even so, what my dancing is happens to not be what most would call dancing) and was very happy.
Now settled back in the hotel room after eating dinner, my mother is grumpy and mad at me, I’m about to wrap this thing up and go downstairs where they have wireless internet in the lobby so I can up and post this on the interweb. Sadly, I will only have about an hour and a half as that is all that my tiny laptop battery will allow me.
So now, I bid you all adieu, farewell, avidazen, goodbye and a note my friends; don’t post too much information about me in any comments that you leave and I hope you enjoy the small trinkets that I shall give to you as a physical representation of my gratituide for your friendliness towards me when I find the time (once I return to my home) to give them to you.
