A lone werewolf sat on it's haunches there in the middle of the ruins. It seemed to be laughing at something. Chills ran up and down her spine as a drop of sweat slid down her neck, then beneath her collar until it was soaked up by the fabric of her black blouse. Her heart was beating so fast she was sure if there had not been a cloak of silence over her she would be a dead woman.
She settled back against the tree trying to regain control over the fear pulsing in her veins. She had trained too hard and too long to lose it now. She lifted the crossbow to her shoulder preparing to shoot; waiting for the signal. She started to feel an erie sense of unease; something had happened, where was everybody why were they waiting so long.
A rustle of leaves off to the left behind her made her turn on her heel. She peered into the darkness, hoping it was just the breeze coming in from the ocean, nothing peered back at her from the darkness. A sigh of relief hovered on her breath and broke into a shout of surprise as a dark bulky figure flung itself to the ground. A low rumbling growl errupted from deep within its chest, without hesitating it threw itself at its prey. Reflex saved Lillian from the beast fangs and claws as she looped around the tree and kicked the beast in the back of the head it fell to the ground its claws scrabbling in the dense folliage for a firm purchase on the earth. She wasted no time in putting a silver tipped bolt through its heart. To make certain death claimed it's reward she sliced the werewolves head cleanly from it's shoulders.
A howl came from the ruins and she turned to see her brother; his sword moved with deadly even strokes; this was a side she had never seen of him. His movements were graceful, skilled, and powerful.
"Lillian behind you!" he shouted. She turned to see a werewolf midleap headed straight for her. She knew she could not avoid the attack this time. So many thoughts ran through her head. The one that struck her the hardest was she would never get to apologize to Aozu for thinking him an incompetent twit.
