Every Night
Laying awake in bed
Trying not to think,
Trying to keep thoughts from swarming my head,
It seems I have failed trying not to think.
I"m begining to cry, a flood of memories the tear carriers,
The tears hot on my pillow, I find them here every night,
Bad memories flood in through my weakened barriers,
Weakened by trying so hard to keep the memories out of sight.
The memories are feeding the tears,
They won't stop... they can't,
Memory after memory, it's tempting to kill myself I fear,
But I know I can't, so I won't even try.
Finally I am exhausted from crying,
I can only fall into a fretful sleep,
Not dreaming anything good, even though I'm trying,
This sleep isn't very deep...
