I once had a neighbor who was as sweet as could be Wonderfully enough, she thought the same of me A house of adventure, and gardens of delight Many times my imagination fought the sun and night Just roaming her house, loving the time Was better than anyone could express in rhyme I remember going over and watching cartoons While my parents had to work long until noon Her garden was a treasure I would explore The trees and the flowers, and the dog next door Soon this neighbor, sadly passed away And everything light turned to dark in just a day The wondrous gardens turned to dust Her children didn’t see tending as a must
I once had a friend who was as pretty as could be Wonderfully enough, she thought the same of me Around to my yard, she’d come to play She’d spend the night, and then the day A gentle voice, an easy soul Soon enough, time took its toll Katie, by a man in a car, was taken away And is still missing, even to this day
I once had a grandmother, with the most amazing home With plenty of feet, in which I would roam Smelling of cookies, both high and low With a stop, time seemed to whoa Sadly, once more, it was taken down All of those memories by a watering drown No more smell, no more home, No more place for which to roam…
