A use for the journal! Advertisement.
In my own parts of the internet, I'm known for my prowess in GIMP (freeware Photoshop-type program). During my time in those parts, I've made many graphics for others, and myself, and have gained the respect of others for my work in that field. My knowledge and skill is entirely self-taught over the last 4 years which is why many admire my work.
Instead of opening a shop (which is way too formal for my taste), I am offering my services through a more friendly and personal venue. If anyone needs graphics of any kind, they can come to me and ask if I may be able to help them out. Banners for threads, signatures, profiles, or even wallpapers; I can do it all. And I can do it for free (excluding any friendly donations, of course).
One of the reasons why I'm not opening an official shop or selling my work is because I tend to use some public domain images. They are free to use for commercial purposes but it seems that these images would lower the value of my effort and skill. So, instead of spending time on writing up a Shop, posting it, and dealing with all of that jazzy mumbo-jumbo, I'll offer my services for free and work off of any friendly donations one might feel would be fair to offer.
