Shidoni's Writing Journal
Moments of writing brilliance that I have typed down. Most of them are based off of real events from my daily life or my intrests.
The Break In
Today I was coming home from swim team, no big right? Well, I got to my house, parked my old teal bike, and went to open the back door. Locked. Puzzled I continued to the side and front doors. Locked and locked again. Now becoming increasingly frustrated I started to slam my fists into the wooden door, no answer. I could not believe it. My mom had locked me out of my house without a second thought. "I have to get in, there must be a way," I thought, "but how?" I trudged to the back to see if there were any open windows or the like. That's right, I was looking for a way to break into my own house! Well, one window on the far side of the bottom floor was unlocked. I quickly and easily removed the outer protective frame. The inner one, the one just outside the actual window, was slightly trickier though. It was fit so perfectly that you could not pull it out from the outside. Looking down slightly depressed I noticed a shovel on the ground. I figured, "What the heck, might as well try!" It worked, and I was able to use it to pry out the inner frame. Then I pulled up the window, and I could feel the cool air conditioning seeping through the white wooden blinds. I carefully crawled into my living room, trying not to frighten my cats too much or break anything. When I got in, I closed the window. As my hand was going to reach for the lock, it hovered above it for a second. "What if I got locked out again? What then?" A nagging voice said in my head, "Just make sure nobody knows." I pulled my hand away and remembered my mom could get home any minute. She would freak out if she saw the frames in the backyard. I unlocked the back door, and went back outside. I carefully put both frames in how they originally were, first the small one, then the larger. Sure that they looked no different then before I got in, I went back through the back door and closed it behind me. With a sigh I leaned against the glass of the door and looked toward where I had broken in. My little black cat was sitting there, meowing. I walked over bent down, and picked him up. As I touched my finger to his mouth, I whispered, "It's our secret, ok?," and smiled.
