I've resisted making a journal on Gaia since the beginning, but I'm making one now because I finally have something important to say.
I held a bat today! It was little and brown and just about the cutest thing ever. It was under my bench as I was waiting for a bus just a little after sunset, and at first I thought it was a toad. I put my foot in front of it to keep him from walking into traffic and getting trampled, and when I realized that he didn't have any idea what he was doing, I decided to pick him up and move him out of the way. When I gently squeezed him and lifted him into my palm, he tried to hold on to me with his feet and the claws at the end of his wings. When I had almost made it to the trees, he crawled forward and I didn't know if he was going to hang from my hand (which would have been TOTALLY AWESOME) or jump and kill himself, so I let him down in the leaves. He started running (as well as a bat can run) towards the nearest tree, and then climbed it like a squirrel.
His name was William.
Let this first journal entry commemorate something else: In my four years at Gaia, I've had only girls on my friends lists, but I'm about to add a guy now. gonk Let the world know that for one brief shining moment, I, um, had a bunch of girls as friends.
