The Sandbox
By J. M. Zonis
Build castles within my borders
A glorious palace, a city, a nation
Mold me however you like
Exert your imagination
Then sift my land through your merciless fingers
Cheerfully godlike in its ruin
Reveling in power as each turret falls
Squelching the debris between your toes
As you leave you take part of it with you
A part of me, settled within your shoes
Bitterly coarse, rough to the skin
A small price to pay for play
