The Aztec By : Breana Green
I enjoy the history of the Aztecs because they were so advanced fro their time. I've learned about their religion, culture, and technology during this chapter rather it be research or in the class. I like the fact that they adapted so well to the environment. They had floating farms, and markets. All sorts of different advancements.
Their government was a Theocracy. Therefore most of the basis of life then was of their religion. Not only did they have religious human leaders but they also had beliefs of gods and goddesses. Gods of corn, hearth, moon , sun , wind. Over a hundred gods and goddesses. They even had a god of parties!
Even though they had no written language they had scribes. They drew events, calendars, an much more. The scribes would draw the pictograms that would record events. First the scribe would sketch a rough outline, then they would add the details. The Aztecs would use vegetables, insects, and shells to create colors. There were artists and sculptures. Then there were stone workers who created jewlrey.
The technology amazes me even more. They had calendars so advanced they predicted solar eclipses. They had doctors that used many herbal remedies both to cure and prevent illness. They knew cures for all sorts of things. Aztec doctors understood alot about the human body. They practiced on the bodies of the wars and sacrifices.
The story of the Aztec's is an inspireing one. Hunters arriving with nothing and building this huge civilization. The sign that here was where they would stop. A noble eagle with a dead snake in its mouth perched upon a cactus. They stoped and built this prehistory culture that we study today.
