DAYDREAMING: It's a way of life
I always zone out whenever i'm bored <especially english class... lol and this is the place where my innermost daydreaming becomes a reality lol
Million Shards of Moonlight <8 Years Later..>
“Look it’s that girl” “Who??” “You know, THAT girl” “you mean Lina?”
Lina walks into the classroom and an awkward silence falls upon the classroom. She pretends to ignore her, although everyone knows she DEFINITELY heard them. It’s not all that bad either. With her silky brown-black hair that falls neatly down her back and cute but surprisingly mature looking straight bangs, there’s no denial that she is a cool beauty. She quietly walked to her desk and was taking out her textbooks when a shadow fell on her desk.
“Hey Lina! Wanna come over to my house afterschool?” A tall boy with a goofy smile asks her. He has short dark hair with a bit of red highlights hidden for some “added effect.” His hair is messy near the top but seems to organize itself as it reached the nape of his slender (*cough) neck. He gave people the feeling of looking at an overgrown Labrador with his expectant eyes and his lips always curled into a sunny smile. As Lina’s brown doll-like eyes met his onyx eyes, he gave one of his famous grins. “Hmm falling love with this handsome face again?” he jokes. You can tell by Lina’s face that she’s not amused. Giving one of her famous pouty look, she retorts “I only like handsome guys.” “Argg!! So mean!!”
To the people in this classroom, it’s amusing to watch a couple’s sides reversed. Chiba Kazuma (affectionately called Kazu by his friends) is a second year student who seems to enjoy being snubbed by Lina. As his fan girls point out, he is a kendo genius that nobody messes with… except for Lina. Added the fact that he is cute looking at the fact his father is the chief of a police station, he is any high school girl’s dream date. But to the fan girls’ horror, Kazuma and Lina look great together. Because Kazuma is so tall, Lina comes up to his shoulder when standing next to him. And other girls hate her for that “fairytale-look” of the couple.
Oblivious to the jealousy of some of her classmates, she looks at Kazuma as if he’s an alien. To her she couldn’t understand why this overgrown puppy likes her. But she was secretly grateful that someone as cheerful as him would be her boyfriend. ‘I still remember the day I met him… That was the same day as I was being chased by a suspicious stalker….’ As her thoughts trailed on how there seemed to be a stalker after her, she began to feel depressed. ‘Why are all these weird things happening to me?’ Her thought was broken by an affectionate punching by Kazuma. “So you’re coming or not?? You know I like your cooking way better than my mom’s.” Sighing because of Kazuma’s surplus of determination to eat dinner made by her, she finally agrees. “Fine.. But can u come for me my club activity is over?” Kazuma seems thrilled that she agreed so easily “Sure!! I’ll come pick you up. I promise!” With a small peck on her cheek Kazuma walks out the door to his class, now whistling.
‘I’ll come pick you up. I promise!’ … I promise. Two words meant never to be broken. The two words bound by the sacred oath of trust. As the two men’s words overlapped in Lina’s mind, she couldn’t help but think about Ryouhei. She never heard from him again, presumably dead. Kazuma’s words kept ringing in her ears while her mind drifted to the idea that Kazuma might actually leave her someday, just like Ryouhei did. But unlike her traitorous brother who never came to pick her up on that day, Kazuma was waiting for her in front of the gate. They walked in silence, because Kazuma knew something was bugging her. They walked to Kazuma’s house, where the first floor of the building was used as a police station and the second floor was the place Kazuma stayed in. As they walked to the stair greeting the men working there, she saw a tall guy sitting in an arrogant position. He wasn’t the type to be making thousands of dollars per year, but had a strong aura around him that indicated that he wasn’t just a petty criminal either. His bleached-blond hair strangely suited his Chinese-like attire; and his nerve to smoke a cigarette while a policeman interrogated him astounded Lina. “Lina! Hurry up!! I think I’m gonna die from famine!!” Kazuma’s voice could be heard from upstairs. As Lina hurriedly climbed up the stairs, from the corner of her eye she sees the blond guy smiling faintly and seemingly waving his hand at her.

“Hey Ryou, I saw your sister today for real. Not like from behind the street pole or anything. She’s super hot” The guy grins at the thought of the cool beauty he got to glance at today. “… If you’re done stalking my sister I suggest you leave her alone unless you have a death wish.” “Ouch. Touché”

Is there something we’re waiting for?

Million Shards of Moonlight <The Broken Promise>
-In Young Lina’s point of view-
“I’ll come pick you up tomorrow. I promise.” These were the last words I heard from Ryouhei. When I was in elementary school, I used to be so proud of my oniichan. He went to an all-boy high school, so I never really got to see him a lot. But whenever he used to come for spring break, he always used to pick me up after school and let me buy all the candies from the little candy store next to our house. He always used to pat me on the head saying that I’ll get cavities.
2:15 p.m. I rushed out of my classroom. Hopefully, oniichan was already waiting for me. He wasn’t. I decided to wait.
2:27 p.m. Maybe oniichan met a friend and wanted to talk to him…
3:35 p.m. …
3:52 p.m. …
4:24 p.m. There must be a mistake! Oniichan would never forget about a promise! Just as the sun was slowly crawling behind the tall tree next to the school gate, my mom came.
My mom was really pretty. I knew my mom was pretty because she kind of looked like the people on TV every day. She had silky looking brown hair that pleasingly fell neatly near her shoulders. She said she was born with her brown hair, although she’s full Japanese. She always said that my dad, whom I’ve never met, fell for her hair. I don’t know if that’s true ‘because I’ve never talked to him, but I’m pretty sure it’s true.
Today she seemed a little bit sad. Maybe it’s because her usually neat hair looked tangled. Or maybe because she was about to cry. But she came and smiled faintly at me. She said “let’s go home, your brother is not coming.” I knew she wasn’t lying back then, but I knew that Ryouhei ALWAYS keeps his promise. “But Ryouhei said he’s gonna come!! Let’s wait a little more.” Finally, my mom snapped.
“NO HE’S NOT!! THE POLICE CALLED!! He said that he’s going to sleep over at his friend’s house yesterday. He didn’t even come home, so I got worried. I called the phone that Ryouhei left as his friend’s house. There’s no such number, and there wasn’t a “friend” to begin with!” she began to sob and I didn’t know what to do.

Then my mom started drinking.

Million Shards of Moonlight <Prologue>
The moonlight sneaks through the shattered window. A girl towers over the broken body of a child, mangled with his blood and million shards of broken glass which reflected the moonlight. And on a certain shard of glass a drop of tear fell, presumably from the girl. Just as another drop of tear was falling from her eyes, a boy with a gun barges into the hall. His eyes grow wide at the sight of the person he trusted covered by with the crimson red of an innocent life. “All these people…… Y.. you are all alike……all cold-blooded killers who don’t deserve to live in this world. All of you should just die!” The girl's once prized accessory, her life built on by kindness 8 years before, fell broken into the pool of sorrow as if nothing mattered.
