Yes, I'm pissed off about prop. 8, but not just because it didn't pass. I'm angry about the results of it, and the fact that it's voted on in the first place. It shouldn't be so complicated. Marriage between a 'man and a woman' is a religious thing, yes? Yet agnostics and athiests... people of every religious and non-religious group get married, either at a church, or by a judge. So the religious bit shouldn't matter, or be endorsed, to those who aren't religious (hence the separation of church and state). If the church wants to make it that way, then fine, their followers can adhere to that rule, but the rest of us shouldn't have to.
And now gay activists are protesting against Mormons because they funded the proposition (or something) which is causing even more trouble. Bashing the Mormons isn't going to help their cause any, and just makes even more people unhappy.
And lastly, why? What happened to 'everyone is created equal'? Are we ignoring the constitution now, or just interpreting it how we see fit? Gays, and those of any sexuality, should have the exact same legal rights as heterosexuals, and should be allowed to get married. Them getting married doesn't hurt anyone, so why do those who aren't in the LGBT community, or are friends of those in the community, even care? It doesn't affect them at all. Why do they have such a strong need to keep everyone from having equal rights?
Rant over... still fuming, though.
