Why does it feel so weird to look at you,
as though it was just yesterday that you looked back?
i'll keep my eyes to the ground from now on
and maybe that feeling will pass
as the winter chills run down my spine
i'll forget about last winter when you warmed me
i'll keep my sanity if you keep yours
and stop remembering a time when we felt happy
it's time to let them go, every note that you ever wrote me
on every scrap piece of paper and napkin
the embraces and smirks and the sparks from our touch
from now on, that never happened.

and like that, neither of us are staying.
i watch you now, from a distance, i'll glance

i've lost all my strength used to speak to you
we never talked much anyhow, we were all on paper

with no intentions on being more later.
