My shoelaces taste the rainbow like a pack of skittles
They fade from crimson reds to azure blues
And they hold my world together
The tongue of sneakers tastes of candies
The sweet satisfaction of sweat
That comes from unwrapping the mind
Each nougat sole crunching with my feet
Feels the force of my burden,
Supporting the weight of the world on my shoulders
My shoes are dark like licorice
But black like the night of day
Understanding the underbelly of shadows
The toes are tipped with frosting
Of the colors of my heart
Kissing the ground goodbye
And their mesh that breaths like crullers
Floats like the wings of angels
Letting my thoughts soar
But my sneakers run like melting caramel
Sticking my feet to the face of the earth
But always moving forward
