Invisible Thread (Drabble)
Invisible Thread (Drabble)

Everyone thought he was mad, it went without saying if one pawed the air randomly one had a few screws loose. However not everyone as Daemon, and Daemon was far from mad. The little boy with messy blond stared into nothininess, his clear blue eyes glazed as if he was in a trace, neither statement about his state was true though, Daemon was not in a trance, nor was he seeing nothing. In his mind’s eye Daemon could see threads, not a long just a few, some of them were connected to people’s fingers or toes, others were wrapped around their necks. How his mother and father managed to walk without being strangled by the threads were beyond him, but they were there. These threads were like glowing strands of light that crisscrossed before him, though ever once in a while a thread would be blue (he saw that one while passing a man with a funny coloured light around him, he thought he saw wings too), while others would be red. Whether there were threads on him though he did not know, he tried to look once, but it gave him a headache to focus.

This though, is how he saw the world; ever since that fateful meeting with the sea where he nearly lost his life. His mother was hysterical when he was brought back, to be fair his mother was hysterical about ninety percent of the time whether it had to do with his life or the fact she broke a nail. Still, her hysteria kept him from a mental institution, where his father wanted to put him. He tried to make the threads go away, but he couldn’t really, and secretly really… he didn’t want to.
