One can contribute a lot to society by munching on cheeze alone. Raw data's the best. Just collect it like dust. Collect and store. Whenever you find a pattern, go back to the data and see if it matches. You'd be surprised what you learn from watching ripples and reflections, and cracks on a wall, or the pitch of a repetitive sound. It's like a die on a clear pool of water. Just shows you where the water's going.
