You were a mutt, a mystery, an unknown breed. But you were beautiful. The most beautiful dog that every lived in terror of thunder, plastic bags, and trombone cases. You barked at squirrels because you wanted to protect your family, and when the nights rumbled with storms, you wanted protection from your big sister.
There was nothing we could do about the cancer that had infected your body. We could only wait for you to whimper, though you never did.
Though you had no identity other then the name Shadow, you were the best dog this family could have. You are the reason why I will always love my family, protect my family, and come to my family when I need help; just like you. Because I will always be your big sister.
