She never thought she’d be the one
That this would happen to.
But now she’s the girl who stands alone
While no ones else goes through,
The pain and suffering she must endure
While keeping a smile on her face.
Why did things go so wrong?
And why can’t she seem to get things back into place.
The opportunities lost, she could have gone far,
But now they’ll never know.
The potential she had to do whatever she wanted
Seemed to fade just like the snow.
Move mountains?
She would have.
End hunger?
She could have.
If only it hadn’t happened.
For now all that she has got left,
Is her tattered dignity and self respect.
She knows it her the whisper about,
The gossips so loud they might as well shout.
Her situation is plain to see,
All they have to say is ‘I’m glad it’s not me’
The whispers follow her accompanied with stares,
It’s too bad not a single one of them cares.
Her glory done,
Her reign is finished.
Let others have fun,
And let her pride be diminished.
It doesn’t matter anymore,
He left at first word.
He went straight for the door
The second her heard.
To think of that diploma
She’ll never get to hold.
This is one game of poker
That she’ll have to fold.
There was no way out,
It was her only choice,
Her fate had been decided
By a higher voice.
Now that the whispers have ceased,
The silence is deafening
The stares still remain,
Though not from judging eyes.
They come from the shadows
Where darkness lies.
Peace she has found,
But cold she’ll remain
As she took not just her life
After eight months of pain.
