Oh boy, more of me doing homework and using my Gaian journal to save it:
In Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy shows childbirth from a father's point of view, from watching the mother's suffering and fear up until the newborn baby is brought into the world. The sheer emotion of such an event Levin's life, from watching his wife, Kitty, go through childbirth, hit him in ways that conflict his at times. In many parts of the delivery, he is struck by pangs of guilt and emotions that he did not expect, or emotions that did not seem typical for this tyle of event in one's life. The passage opens up with the line, "There are no conditions of life to which a man cannot accustom himself, especially if he sees that everyone around him lives in the same way" (324) which is comforting, or should be for the case of Levin, in that it literally means all people go through ordeals, and there is no wrong way to feel about things. Levin, a non-relgious person nearly becomes spiritual in the ordeal, constantly saying, "'Lord have mercy! Pardon and help us!'" (326) as a reaction to the trials of his wife's strenuous labor. At that degree of strife, his own fretting and worry, he is concerned over his own change of nature, but the opening mandates that strange reactions most certainly happen to everyone, and he himself is no exception. Upon the end of the labor, he is met with a baby son, his first born, yet has conflicting feelings that "what he felt towards this little creature was not at all what he has anticipated" (333). Perhaps he is of an opinion that there is a fatherly stereotype that he presumably would have taken on upon the birth of his first child, fearing that he will be a bad father.

Upon attending Wondercon in San Francisco
I'll try to get some pictures up sometime today, but omgIgottoseeChristianBaleinallhisgloryomgsohot. Swear to god.
They showed a 6 minute montage clip of Batman Begins. Bale had a little question panel. What the hell... little... it was packed.
And of course Kevin Smith was there. He had a panel and was absolutely hilarous. Of course, I think anyone who uses his deaf interpreter to show the audience how to say "c**k sucker" in ASL rocks. I also got a picture with him. One of my usual "cling on to them like you're gonna die, and smile at the camera" routines. Muse and Steve Dave were also there as special appearances.
On a side note, the guy who played Bruiser in Ocean's Eleven had a little booth, seeing as he was in other sci-fi stuff like Buffy and what have you, but because Ocean's Eleven is the best movie ever ever, I was mega-excited. He was a great big sweet guy. Pretty much what you see on screen. Got a picture with him too.
Alex Ross and Jimmy Palmiotti were supposedly there, but I never saw Ross at his booth, though I saw some of his original drawings. And I just couldn't really find Palmiotti.
All in all, not as good as last year (I stalked till I dropped) but it was extremely glorious.

This week's Catwoman is from the comic of the new The Batman cartoon no. 8, and since I can't respect it being fully in continuity, and that I'm too tired, I'll just say it's like a suppliment to the one Catwoman episode of The Batman, and it's relatively cute.
Next week we get real Catwoman, but even "real" is relative when according to my sources, Brubaker has signed on with Marvel.
R.I.P. Catwoman, Gotham Central, Authority. We loved you. And if we've learned anything from comics, it's that vengeance is a virtue, and Marvel will taste my bitter revenge... maybe.

Man, sometimes I think I'm the only Gaian with a journal that gets updated... I look through my Friends List to see if anyone who's established a journal has written anything, but there's either one post from three months ago, tests, or updates on RPs that have long since passed on... Of course I typically update twice a month, but my excuse is that half of this is dedicated towards pretty much documenting Catwoman in her current continuity and typically she gets two appearances a month.
Of course, much to my chagrin, Brubaker hasn't been writing recent issues (nor any future issues up to April according to dccomics.com) so let us all pray to avoid another Balent Era. And a shout out to Devin Grayson: They don't want you with Nightwing, and I don't want you either. If only Darwyn Cooke wasn't so busy penning JLU episodes... siiigh.

Slam, Slam, Slam! What did I ever see in him in the first place? Is he on crack? He is being so out of character, I couldn't believe him getting me into a mess over my identity. Wasn't my identity what was so important to him in the first place? And the son thing? He's a freaking cop. He chooses a cop over my purpose? My lifeblood? Me? I hope he only had Sam then quit.
Woodshop Boy is going down. This is ridiculous.
Bruce has certainly not been making himself a stranger. It's a little comforting on the soul to be the one he believes he can turn to, but as with all things, I don't know how long his little Steady tirade is going to continue. But stranger than Woodshop Boy is seeing the dark knight sleep. He sleeps? Who woulda known?

So, that whole thing with the cop is squared away. Funny thing about that religious guy though, I bet he woulda liked a piece of this, but slimeballs messing with my territory and my people aren't good for much more than blackmail.
Messing with the cops is just so fun though! I rattled the detective a little, and got my name cleared by just doing what I do best. Easiest thing I've done in a long time.
Classes started yesterday. Still have to fuss with my schedule a bit, but I pretty much got everything I would need. I really want to do 18 units, but that depends if I want to sign up for the online anthropology class.

You wouldn't think a big metropolitan city like Gotham would have back-water rednecks who took an unhealthy liking to woodshop. You wouldn't think this weirdo would want anything from me either, I mean, who's he looking for? A prom date? One thing you learn about Gotham is to follow cycles; and the general rule is "So-and-so is after me because I stole their blank." Oh, and I almost forgot "Or want to find my identity for personal vendetta." And can't forget ...my favorite... "So-and-so wants to smash me to pulp to affect Batman." Okay, nevermind about the cycles thing, it would seem this city is as random as some of the themes used by the Rogue's Gallery.
But it still doesn't mean Slam gets to make fun of me over it. He was the one forgetting the cash for dinner after extending the invitation... Some of these guys are just plain weird.
I quit at the bakery I quit at the ba-ker-y! La la la la la la! I quit at approximately 5:58 this morning. Waking up at five is worth it. Gonna go work another day at Williams Sonoma, WHICH I bought the most gorgeous pair of glasses... (s**t, I was hoping they'd have a pic in the catalog, but they don't.) Unfortuneately, it's a temp job, but that might be good, since if you stay at one place too long, it's bound to suck, even though I've had a semi-great time working at WS. In other news; no stardom for Kei. Damned shame; time to pick a new career.

I woke up this morning, carrying a feeling of dread. I go through the motions, but my wants are feeling hazy. Looming dissapointment over-shadows all off the circle of fate's enlightenment. I hate the audition process.
