God IS Real
I know that there are many people who do not believe in God, but I do. As a child, it took me a very long time to realize that not everybody knew him, that not everyone loved him the way I did. I've come a long way since then, and I've also come fairly close to joining the ranks of those who say that God does not exist. But somehow, through everything, I still believe in him. In fact, the things I have seen and experienced have only strengthened my faith - or at least they have in retrospect. I came through my hard times - which while they seem like nothing now, at the time I was sure that my world was ending - with the realization that God is real.

In all my struggles, he never forgot me, not once. I see this now in retrospect. Often, when we feel we most need God, it seems like he is absent. Some creator and omnipotent being, right? But he never forsakes us. Ever. I think that much of the time we sit around waiting for him to swoop in and fix everything - to sweep away our problems and tie our endings up into a pretty pink bow, complete with a card. We forget that we're not dealing with Deus Ex Machina; we're dealing with life. Yes, God is all powerful, yes he is loving, but he's not going to fix our lives for us. If he did, we would never grow, we would never learn, and we would never change. We must take reprehensibility for what we create, and we must bear what is thrust upon us. This doesn't mean that God doesn't care. It doesn't mean that he is a megalomaniac who sits in the sky and gives aid only to those who give him praise. He may not solve our problems for us, but he will help us along the way. He's always present, if you know how to look. Sometimes, the greatest miracles don't involve raising someone from the dead, but instead come in the form of a kind word to someone in need - things that might appear to be chance. However, I've long since stopped believing on coincidence. The thing is, we have to be open to it, we have to accept it. He won't force anything on us. He offers it, and we must recognize it and accept it. God is not going to thunder from the sky, he is not going to strike you with lightening for your sins. Instead, he waits patiently for you. He fights for you, he protects you from things you don't even notice. How many near death experiences have you had? How many near misses on car-wrecks. I know that the common and accepted theory is that everything is chaotic, that everything happens by chance, but I cannot believe that. The evidence of my own life is too great for me to ever believe in something called chance again. But don't believe that he is a weak god, a pushover, a wimp. He is far stronger than you or I could imagine, and far gentler too.

So, God is real. He is not a figment of our imagination, he is not a hallucination, he is not a mistaken feeling, a superstition, the product of a diseased mind, or the result of ignorance. He is very real. He won't drop miracles into your lap, but if you look for him, and keep an open mind, you will find him.

I know it may be hard to believe sometimes, but trust me, he is very real, and takes a great interest in you. Why? Because you are the person he has been waiting all eternity for.
