I am so alone, have been for all my years,
No one really listens, no one has stilled my fears.

My dreams are full of tears, always ending in pain,
The sun never shines, there's never anything but rain.

The sun tries to break through, but the fear is too thick,
Years of rejection, neglect, turn the clouds to brick.

I keep trying to live, wishing for a sign,
But all I do is struggle, waiting for the day I'll die.

Detours

a path cut short by cruelty, a detour leading nowhere,
crushed feelings, broken hearts, a trail well trod by those before.

decisions forced by raw emotion, blinded by constant pain,
unable, still unwilling, to accept the rejection, the tears, the rain.

right or wrong, words hang forever in our minds,
cutting, scarring, festering until we find,

that the love we once planned to share, snatched from its infancy,
is deemed as worthless as the heart that had once hoped to care.

paths now lost forever, were perhaps the ones most desired,
the detours that led nowhere, each trail, each hope, gone, reviled.

dreams, ecstasy and pain, love thought gone wrong, betrayed,
flickers still, cutting deep with a sharp, jagged blade.
