I know this doesn't apply much to gaia but been meaning to rant about this for a while.

Ever since starting full time I have been driving out at a busier traffic time and have noticed more and more people throwing used cigarettes out of their car windows still. Now this was a "normal" thing for decades UNTIL research came out that no matter how much you think you put out your cigarette there is a small chance it can catch something on fire.

Just the other day one was still smoking the moment it hit the asphalt and all I could think was "What if that hit the dry grass outside the person's house right near by" the whole yard would have been lit up and the person who threw the cigarette could have been held liable.

There was a case years ago about a used cigarette thrown out of a window ending up in the back seat of another car and burning someone's toddler!

Can we normalize again please putting out your cigarette in your car's ash tray, and if your car doesn't have an ash tray, you can install one!

The fact that these people don't care about the safety of others boggles my mind. These are fire hazards just being thrown out a window willy nilly. This is not even mentioning the environmental damage if a bird eats it!
