He sighs when he dreams of her eyes, in silent cries felt by the foliage, elements and creatures. They sigh in response, remembering, once, the melting collage of her presence and features. And curse they the day he stole her away, betraying them all, her friends and her teachers. To Earth and to skies, he replies (still in sighs), "Your cursing that day shan't diminish it's splendor. For her beauty did say unto me, 'Take me away!', and all that I did was nothing more than surrender. So you see", he went on, "your curses belong, not with me or the day, but the one that you love." And, at this, they faltered, for they'd not tried to halt her. Nor could they now curse their lost dove. So they blessed the poor lad with what gifts they had—their songs and their colors, ornately adorned...and invited the lovers to lay under cover, protection and blessing of all God had formed.
And so there lay the two, on the grass in the dew, 'neath the trees near the cottage he'd built long ago. For he'd known, even then, though not who, how or when, that the one he would find would be one he would know. With shade for a sheet, the scent of pine sweet, they talked of the sun and the stars and the moon for whom she'd been named, and with passion untamed, their voices encoiled from midnight to noon. And 'round 'bout that hour, he picked up his flower, and carried her into their cottage again. Her head on his shoulder, she told him to hold her forever as now and with each passing when. And once in the kitchen, she asked him to sit. Then he set her down at a round, handcarved table. As if was the norm, each leg was her form, four figures of poses of Moongirl in Maple.
The figures were firmly in memory burned, one day while he chopped down his shade in the sun. The Moon came between; no sunlight was seen. In darkness eclipsing, the vision did come. That Maple, he killed it. He knew God had willed it's and his life's purposes, both now begun. And so he began, with his tools and his hands, to sculpt that art he had seen in his heart. And without plan or graph, he perfected his craft, surpassing any that were e'er drawn on a chart. For he knew that hence the time would come whence the woman he saw in the wood would arrive, and each nook and curve upon which he'd serve every meal would support what kept them alive. Much time passed before she revealed her glory in person, as once every one-thousand years. He awoke at that moment. The dream he did know went away, and he had just her picture...and tears
