{The Begining}
A happy family of three, a mom, dad, and their little boy named Shade Watanuki, a kid with innocent yellow eyes. They are a normal class family with a unique ability and a curse that has been passed down in their family. This curse skips a generation. Even though this curse is a threat to every child every two generations, this family shows no fear because they believe that their son is special. "Bye mommy! Bye daddy! I love you!" says Shade waving goodbye to his parents. "Take care son, we love you! See you this evening!" says Mr. and Mrs. Watanuki.
A burning house, both parents dead is what he finds after returning home from his martial arts lesson. Why did this happen? How did it happen? What will he do now? What can he do? He's just a little kid! "Mommy, Daddy!" is all he can say as he stands there, watching the house he and his family lived in together go up in flames. "What are you going to do now Shade?" a voice says from behind him. He turns around but there is no one there. He then begin to run but soon stops, stares back into the flames and says,"I'm going to live on" as he stares back into the flames. While standing there he suddenly feels something boil inside of him. He clutches his heart as if it was being stabbed by a knife. "Grrrrrraaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!" yells Shade as a dark aura surrounds his body, causing him to loose consciousness.
{7 Years Later}
It has been 7 years since that fateful night. Shade s now 13 years old and has just passed the 7th grade. While on his way to his sensei, Sosuke, his martial arts teacher and guardian, Shade visits his parents grave to pay his respects. He tries hard to hold back his tears but the memories were too painful for him to bare. He still remembers what he witnessed. Both parents dead in a pool of blood and their house on fire. "I miss you two so much" he whimpers as tears start rushing down his face. The image of seeing them dead was the worst memory of all. He remembered the days before his sensei took him in, kids with their mother and father, happy, smiling. He had none of that! He was all alone! This made him cry even more."No Shade, you're not alone" he convinced himself, "you have Yukiro sensei now." He wiped away his tears and sat the flowers he had bought from the flower shop on the grave stones.
"Hey Shade!" says a familiar voice. To his surprise it was the girl from his second and sixth period class Ember Fubbyashi. Ember is 13 just like Shade but tends to act older than her actual age. She is very smart and kind to people as long as they are kind to her also. He turns around and blushes before saying, "Hey Ember, what are you doing here?" "I just was on my way home when I saw you walking here." He notices that her facial expression changed as she glanced at his parents' grave. "What's wrong?" he asks with concern held in his eyes. She looked at him with regret held in hers and replied, "I'm sorry for your parents' death. It must hurt a lot huh?" "You don't have anything to be sorry for okay? Besides, I have Yukiro sensei!" Both friends smile back at each other with relief. "Oh yea, Ember?" "Yeah? What is it?" "You wanna hang out for a while?" "Ok sure!" The both smile again and looked to the side to see the view of the city.
For a few minutes they stood in silence, enjoying the view. Before either of them had a chance to say anything their names were called from the main entrance. Both teens turn around to see their friend, Syro Aurion, running towards them with terror held in his eyes. Syro is Shade's very first and best friend. They've met when Shade was all alone at a park. He's taller than both shade and Ember but younger than the teens by two in a half years. The two look at each other with concern and asked, "What's wrong?" Panting, he replies, "somebody......attacked.....master Sosuke's.......temple!" "What!?" screams Shade, fearing that the same thing is happening to his sensei. Before Ember and Syro had time to speak, Shade dashes off towards his sensie's temple.
