Part II
Snapping awake at the cold burn of his air conditioner, Jack quickly pressed the off switch and listened as the fan whirled to a stop. It's so quiet. He looked from the hand that turned the switch to his other, resting in his lap. A perfect crystalline snowflake rested there, and melted from the heat of his body.
What the hell? A snowflake...?
His bed was draped in white, as he lay atop the sheets. He felt cold...an unnatural cold in this summer heat. The mugginess crept back upon him as he soon felt the effects of turning off the A/C. "Dreaming again," he spoke to the cieling.
The hissing steam of the shower had already begun to erase the details of the dream from him. Water trickled every which way, but all he could think about was ice. Jack stepped back into the room's bare furniture space as he searched a plain wood cabinet by the door for fresh clothes. Only his bed and a cabinet adorned the room. The boxspring mattress had been delivered only the day before.
A pair of shoes were shoved unceremoniusly beneath his bed and he put those on now. "Where is this school again?" he asked no one, blanking out for a moment with thoughts of nothing. The paper was scrunched into his jeans pocket, and bore an address, nothing more.

"This must be the place..." he talked aloud, and thought to himself that he should stop that habit, 'less other should people find him weird. A double-glass door opened onto a small waiting room and a few computer desks facing him. His white shirt flapped in the hot air, caught by the whirling fans above. The circulated musty draft did nothing for the heat, and he found himself already sweating. Jack stood in a waiting room outside the offices of the local High School, transfer papers in hand.
