I sit in anticipation Waiting to hear the news I'v kept my hopes up for this I hope that I don't lose You bring on the tension I'm bouncing in my seat You keep on going Begging, in your mind, that I admit defeat The time is coming closer I fold my hands and pray I was never prepared for what you were about to say I couldn't believe I lost How could I be so blind I thought I would get it And leave past mistakes behind My eyes are tearing up I swallow them with pride I would never let you see The feelings I try to hide You don't really care And no one else really does I deserved it anyway But that's just how it was I always keep my hopes up And end up losing
