THE BOONDOCKS
Actually, my obsession started around the beginning of March. Before that, i was watching the show every Sunday. Sure, i've read the comics when we used to get the newspaper, but i've never read them as frequently as i do now. I just think its hilarious; Aaron McGruder is a GENIUS, man.
So many people enjoy the comic/show, while many others are offended and outraged by it. The ones who are need to get a sense of humor. Besides, the man is expression his opinion, and last time i checked, thats what we're allowed to do in America. If you dont like it, dont read/watch The Boondocks. Its just that simple. You all are the cause of your own anger.
..Anyway, enough of my ranting.
THE STORY
The story tells of Huey Freeman and Riley Freeman, two brothers taken from Chicago by their grandfather to live in Woodcrest, an almost all-white community. It's a rich and "Sophisticated" neighborhood. They bought a house using the boys' inheiritance, which i believe is from their possible dead parents. The boys dont seem to like it there at first, but as time goes on, it doesnt look like they mind all that much.
Here are my descriptions of the characters.
HUEY FREEMAN - A ten year old black male who is considered a revolutionary, or 'Radical Black Freedom Fighter', as he portrays himself, who is rather intelligent for his age. The more sensible of the two brothers, he usually tries to keep Riley and Grandad out of trouble, but they really don't listen to him until it's too late. His intentions are generally good, but he usually considers white people "The Enemy", and loves to put them in awkward situations, usually considering his race. One day, he'll change the world, but he's only ten, so it will be quite some time in the future.
RILEY FREEMAN - Huey's eight year old little brother. He, unlike Huey, yearns to live the 'gangsta' life. He changed his name to "Riley Escobar" in the second grade, because it sounds gangster. Sometimes he ruins his thug-like image when he throws a temper tantrum, though. Even though he and Huey tend to fight and diss eachother frequently, the two are fairly close. His favorite word is '*****', since he says it about 500 times in the series.
ROBERT FREEMAN - The boys Grandfather, who is usually referred to as "Grandad" by them. No one knows his exact age, but from what i read in the comics, he is around 70. He moved the boys to Woodcrest to be around the sophisticated white people. He's a crazy old man who is never without his belt, just incase Riley gets an attitude. All he really wants is a white woman that he can share his last years with, as he hints in the series.
JAZMINE DUBOIS - A cheerful, positive, yet slightly naive ten year old Mulatto (black and white) girl who lives across the street from the Freeman home. She still believes in the tooth fairy, and tends to get Santa Claus mixed up with Jesus, claiming that Santa died for their gifts, and returns from the dead to forgive them for their sins. Despite Huey's teasing and overall negative nature, she seems to like him quite a bit.
THOMAS DUBOIS - Jazmines father, the district attorney of Woodcrest, he strictly believes in order, and constantly follows the rules. He is ridiculed by his fellow black men and women because he married a white woman. Some would even go as far as calling him a traitor. His greatest fear is being anally raped in jail.
SARAH DUBOIS - Jazmines mother and Tom's wife. She appears in like..two or three episodes. Not much is known about her, but in the comics, it is known that she loves black men (hence her being married to Tom) and Huey suspects her being a member of the KKK.
UNCLE RUCKUS - "No relation" is what he usually says after introducing himself. This man hates one thing and one thing only. Black people. Ironically, he is extremely dark himself. Constantly praising white people and a supporter of slavery, Uncle Ruckus isnt exactly everyones favorite person. Still, Grandad finds a way to stand being around him. He calls black people "Monkeys" and rap music "Jungle/Congo Jongo Noise".
ETC..
Those were just descriptions based off of what i saw on the show. I'm not saying they're accurate but meh.
Anyway, i've been lacking the will to draw. D: It sucks, but its happened before. Ah well, i'll just have to wait until its done with and stuff.
Peace.
