Beads of lukewarm Perspiration slowly dripped down Scadian’s face, though he took no notice. His bow was strung and his gaze was fixed upon the straw dummy he had created mostly of old mildewed, cloth and bunches of grass he had collected from the large field in the backside of his mothers cottage. Being fourteen, Scadian had spent his whole life with his mother, though he had always wondered something about her. He tried to ignore it, but it always seemed to linger in the backmost corner of his mind. Scadian was born to his mother when she was at the age of 84 years old. After nearly dieing in the ordeal, she took to sickness throughout Scadian’s whole life. It was a strange case indeed. As his friends put it, “There’s no way she’s your mother Scadian! My mom is only twenty-nine! She has no husband!” As hard as Scadian tried to shut out these words, they were brought to him in nightmares of the most bloodcurdling Nature.
The Arrow whistled through air and landed square on the dummy’s chest with a thud. “Could it be possible? Is my whole life a lie? Who was my father?” he thought, as his tense muscles promptly loosened, and he walked towards the target to retrieve the arrow. “That’s it! I’m going to find out! I won’t let her tell me off this time.” As he pulled the arrow out a sudden throbbing broke out near his wrist. He pulled his tunic sleeve up to reveal a symbol on his wrist. It was a birthmark took the form of a ten pronged tree.
This was another part of his life that puzzled that him, and yet another thing his mother would not reveal to him.
Scadian walked through the door, which was nothing more than a tattered curtain heavy with the aroma of rank fish. The cottage was nothing more than a two room shack consisting of a kitchen a bedroom which his bedridden mother spent most her days secluded from the rest of the world and its tribulations. His mother did not seem to be attractive the least bit, and it didn’t seem that she had ever been even in her younger days. Scadian’s Appearance didn’t seem to reveal that of his mothers at all. He had a sturdy build, and long brown hair. He was a bit short from his age, but it was made up in his muscle. The strangest features of him however, were his eyes which were a honey gold color.
Scadian picked up a damp rag and washed the grime from his face. He then went to the side of his mother’s bed, and kneeled down.
