I had this dream once, and I brooded over it for a while, deciding to put it here. I think it may make for an interesting RP or two... We'll just see.

Anyhow, It's a military-like dream, with a certain research group having developed a way to 'alter' their soldiers genetically. I've come up with three that I have seen so far. No they aren't the most creative things I've ever come up with, but it surprised me how in depth it got in my dream.

Here are the three,

Name: Golem
Alteration: The outermost muscles and skin.
Bio: Often reffered to as 'tanks', these soldiers have been engineered to the point where they can be shot and come away almost completely unharmed. Their skin has been hardened and designed to abosrb impact, making it almost impervious to traditional ammunition. Of course the engineering tends to slow the subject down, between the added weight of the altered flesh and some muscles being hardened. However, any opening in the soldier (I.E. The eyes, ears, mouth, wherever.) is far from resistant and any shots there can easily kill the subject. (To counter this, most 'golems' are given additional protection around the face.) Field tests have shown them to be useful for drawing fire and protecting other soldiers.

Name:Shadow
Alteration: Muscles, Reflexes, and balance.
Bio: These are specialized infiltration units made up of the men and women who undergo intense training and genetic surgery. They wear black 'stealth' suits that can, along with the rest of the subject, bend the light around them to effectively cloak the shadow. Movement may still be seen, but even then it can easily appear as if it is merely a hallucination or mirage. They have been designed so that they may have more dexterity and balance, making them excellent snipers. They are very capable at entering hostile ground undetected, even employing a heat dampener which can hide them from any kind of infrared. Of course, this causes the subject to become increasingly warm, even to dangerous levels if prolonged. Also however, despite their abilities, they also seem to be suspectible to wounds, which heal at a much slower rate for some odd reason. Scientists are still looking into what causes this curious side-effect. Nevertheless, Shadows are fast, percise, and deadly at any range, so long as they have the first strike.

Name:Cerberus
Alteration: Vision, bone structure (Left arm only), Psychological, and Muscle structure in the legs.
Bio: These soldiers have often been called 'beserkers' but their true abilities are far from the image the word conjures. These soldiers tend to be placed as squad leaders for the other two types of soldiers. They have been given a cybernetic implant in the right eye that allows them to 'target' certain hostiles. They have been altered to be able to enter a state of mind, not unlike a homing missle, at which the soldier will rapidly take out the targeted enemies. When they enter this state, the soldier will normally either put away his or her firearm or discard it, Specially implanted talons on the left arm will extend and the Cerberus will rush the target at a blinding speed, thanks to the alterations in their leg muscles. The target will have no time to react before being cut down by the soldier's talons. If multiple targets are selected, The Cerberus will choose the one closest and work their way towards the others until all targets are eliminated. This targeting system was implanted in order to prevent the soldier from attacking friendlies or neutrals by accident. Cerberus soldiers report that while in this mindstate, they cannot see or comprehend what is happening beyond what their targets are doing. The state ends at will, so they are able to return to the fight if there are any hostiles left. This is, however, a more of a desperate measure. Normally the Cerberus will remain with his or her gun, as the vision and psychological changes allow their accuracy with assault rifles and light machine guns to be top notch. There have been rumors that the soldier has 'lost it' and attacked their own allies, but command denies this rumor, stating that intel has not detected any such incident.



Anyway, those are it. I just wanted to put it down so that I wouldn't forget it.

Also note that there are very few of these kinds of soldiers, so it's not like you'll be seeing a platoon of them running around.
