Broken promises. Ending friendships.
I used to be lost without you,
But now I've found my way.
I think about you constantly,
Every single day.
And though it hurt to let you go,
It's something I had to do.
I loved you then and love you still.
I just thought you should know.
But if you just can't understand,
That's something I can see.
The only thing you need to know is
There's no longer a you and me.
So forget about the past and forget about the future
I'll no longer be there.
You've found someone so much better,
So, to you, I'll no longer be there.
This is a poem about one of my best friends and, basically the emotional hell I've been through because of her. I promised I'd never leave, but she's just making it so hard to stay. I don't want to break that promise, but I think it's time that I did. I see her going down a path I never want to see and I won't go there with her, I can't. This is a poem about me finding my own way, away from her.
And though I bleed.... I'm still numb.
