I view things in a somewhat neutral standpoint on the subject. Although I believe that good will always dominate over evil the lines between the two change with most scenarios.
Such as killing another living being, stealing and lying etc. are generally viewed as bad. I don't think it is that cleanly divided between good and evil. For example one of the commandments is 'thou shall not kill' and although it is a good ideal you must not be literal and follow the letter of the law. In World War 2 when Nazi Germany was attempting to conquer the world at the time and was commiting genocide, they were obviously wrong. The point to that? when the opposing force fought against them for those years they had killed many officers of the German force. Obviously by now you are saying 'duh', how many times are people trying to just let a problem 'solve itself' and attempt 'peace offerings' with whatever the obstacle. They do not want to face the problem so they resort to other solutions. That is infact one of the main reasons World War 2 was as bad as it was. They did not act properly in time and Hitler gained more power in the time they were giving in to his demands.
Very few acts can be deemed evil in every purpose except for a few exceptions such as rape etc. It is not so much the actual phyisical act but the means to do what through it. Many say we will destroy oursleves because of our 'evil' ways. The truth is we will destory ourselves when the capacity to do what we know is right without hesitation. Our society has the flaw of thinking that 'what will happen to me', 'that would be tough', 'what will everyone else think.' While I firmly believe that we should do what we know is correct and true to our feelings. Let our actions and thoughts justify our way not what the world has placed upon it.
If somebody went up to me and for no apparent reason picked a fight with me then started to punch me in the stomach, I would guide my actions accordingly. If the person in question has intent to hurt me with malicious intent using their full force or adequit enough force I would fight back. If the person wanted to hurt me maliciously but lacked the ability to I would not fight back. Lets say that the first scenario happens and I do not fight back I will be beaten both physically and mentally. If I did not fight back in that case for a reason such as 'what if he gets people to help him', 'what if I can't beat him' or the ever apparent 'will I get in trouble with an authority', (police, principal etc.) I was beaten already. Do not answer to anyone if you feel you were just and reasonaable in your actions. If God appeared and began killing people who I believe had no solid reason to be killed I would ask him why. Then if he threatened me I would go to that death gladly.
Many may say 'ya this makes sense but everyone knows that', take a look in your life and think of people and times when they knew what was right but did not do it. Evil is only exists when someone lacks tha ability to do good. They are ever apparent and small in difference often crossing closely and parralel. Do what you think is correct and the rest of society be damned. Go say hi to the nice person you don't talk to because there unpopular, don't go fight the person that may want to hurt you when you know that it is impossible for them to. Adventure to the uncertainty and pass by the small issues, instead go directly to the source.
