Darkness erupted around them from the unknown grave. They didn't flinch though, because they were being watched. What ever thing had brought them here, was testing them. The two shadow Landers watched as some blackness started to gently fade into a red. The moved along the dark brown path way until they came face to face with their captor. He had long black hair that lead to his waist. His eyes covered by a thin red ail that connected to the rest of the shiny red material all over his body. A black chain twisted around his wrist connecting to a weapon that was firmly secured to his back.
"Glad you could make it," the man smiled. Tie and William exchanged glances.
"Your the one who hired us?" William asked impatiently, "because we're kind of busy if your not." The man only smiled. He reached into his shirt and produced a bag of coins.
"Five gold coin's if you don't take this job," he jingled the money in the bag, "more can be added if you are unsatisfied."
"We don't take bribes--" Tie began to speak.
"How much more, and you need to tell us why we can't take this mission," William interrupted, "we need to decide if it's worth our troubles."
"Willy, we can't, your already on probation--" William waved his hand at Tie, silencing him.
"My problem, isn't it. mind your own business," he turned his head towards the man, go on, I don't have all day."
"We'll only go up to fifteen gold coins--" the man began.
"No, I believe you'll at least go to twenty. I want no lies and you better pray to what ever god you have here it you try to manipulate me," William stated coldly. He had been in a sort of short mood ever since they had been assigned this job.
"I have nineteen on me- coin's I mean. The reason why I wish for you to end your job, is because the prince does not with to rule this land. He is selfish, lazy and stupid. He cares nothing for the strength, the history or the people of this land. The prince will destroy any hope of survival these people have." The man spoke forcibly, enunciating each word with importance.
"I care not for your people. I care for me. If the laws here impose such a strictness upon the royal family, let it be that way. Just like in all histories, if the people are unimpressed by the ruler, then he will be killed. We help the person we are destined to help, we can not go changing our minds over silly little people like you." William shrugged as he turned his head away from the stranger, "Tie, lets go."
"You dare treat me like a, a child," the man roared. William swung his head towards the man, and smiled.
"I'll see you later," William laughed, " you damn little brat!" The man stood there a moment, before blackness engulfed him, and the two shadow Landers were the only ones left. William sighed, "It's a long walk a head of us, better start before we can't see."
"What was that about back their, who was that guy?" Tie asked sceptically. He was still glancing around himself, making sure that man wasn't planning on sneaking up on them from behind.
"The was Prince Leander," he laughed bitterly, "the one we are suppose to toughen up." The two boys walked in silence towards the red sun, that marked their path towards the kingdom of Kenneth.
