Heh, my birthday was almost a week ago now, but I forgot to post about it. I had a pretty good day, all in all. From my folks I got two pajama sets, matching hat and gloves, and chocolate stars from Thompsons. My older sister got me a giant fuzzy Stitch plush ^_^ I worked the lunch shift, but it wasn't too long or busy, luckily. Then I played online until Dave came and took me out to dinner. We went to a Japanese place here in town, Ichiban, but ended up on the Chinese side. But they also served sushi. Dave had never had sushi before, so I ordered two Unagi ones for us as an appetizer. He had the General Chicken (spicy!) and I had the Moo Goo Gai Pan. And since I turned 21, I ordered an alcoholic beverage, more because I could than actually wanting one, though. I had the Royal Pineapple, which mixed pineapple, lemon, rum and orgeal (or something like that) into one drink which turned out to not taste that great. Ah well, live and learn. After dinner, Dave and I went to the mall, just to pick up more manga (Suncoast and Waldenbooks). Once we went back to my apartment, he gave me my present: a Mizpah coin necklace (well, two halves, one for him, and one for me) ^_^ I had a hard time convincing him that the male section would fit over his head (it didn't have a clasp for some reason), but it did. And a little after we got back, everybody back home called me ^_^ And we all had cake (well, not the folks on the phone....)
Ah, the cake! Now there's a story in itself. Y'see, my school has a service where parents can order a cake from Food Service to be delivered for their child's birthday, and my folks have done this every year for me. However, this is the first year I was in the apartments, rather than the dorms. So I got a call the day before my birthday that my cake was at BHT and I needed to pick it up. I worked that evening, so I figured I'd pick it up after my shift. But I forgot. As I said before, though, I worked lunch the next day, so I picked it up after that shift. When I picked it up I learned that there was a cake that was supposed to go to BHT that went to my apartment building, too. So it wasn't that cakes aren't delivered to the apartments, it was just a mix-up. Well, I carried the cake back from one half of the campus to the other, about ten minutes' walk. And let me tell you, I had no idea how heavy a cake could be until then. When I got back, all my roommates were in, so we lit the candles and they sang to me. Twenty one candles on one cake, and I blew them all out in one go ^_^ The cake itself suffered only minimal damage on one side, and was not diminished in taste at all.
And just for the record, the new donation items rock!
