You were like a sister.
One of my very best friends.
But as soon as October came,
Our kinship seemed to end.

I guess it got too strong,
It must have made you weak.
And then the monster came in,
And took your soul to keep.

I thought you'd make it through.
I had hoped that you would stay.
But it was your time to go,
So God came to take you away.

The cancer had no heart.
Had no sense of causing death.
Even after it took your life,
It didn't know the sorrow it left.

So I'll wait for the day,
Where it's my turn to leave.
And I'll be with you again.
