The pain was unbearable.... my screams of agony were long gone from the fact that I knew why I hurt so much. The nurses are holding both my hands and all I can think about is if they are here yet. Them meaning both my children, yes I was blessed with twins. One girl, one boy. To be honest I wish for the boy to be born first so that he can protect his younger sister.
I giggle and the nurses look at me, wondering why on earth a woman giving birth would laugh in pain.
Ignoring there looks I continue to do as the doctor says.
"Rehannah, stay focused. Keep pushing." he directs me.
I guess you don't realize when life begins. You never know when life hits you until you have a black eye and you have a head-ache that didn't quite come from overthinking things. Life is plain and simple in the eyes of the elder. But to us, those woman who are going through what I am at the age of 17.... we don't have time to consider that life was simple the moment out eyes meet our newborn children's.
