Today Yasaswi learned her first letters. 'ග' was her first read. Then the 'ර'. Then came 'ඩ'. I was perplexed, were her parents trying to teach her the word 'garadiya' for 'snake'? Well they did not. It stopped there and they came back to 'අ' for 'Amma'. The first letter she wrote was 'ර'. Wise choice by Ajith ayya. However Yasaswi absolutely refused to teach from her mom. 'no no no no no' She kept saying and pushing Lasanthi akka's hand away. Finally I was the one to read the Sinhala and English alphabet with her. Poor kid. I sure hope she does not end up like me. The Sinhala book was really confusing. 'ආ' for 'ආත'. 'ඇ' for 'ඇත' and 'ඈ' for 'ඈය'. confused Why couldn't they include simple words that are pronounced differently so the kids could get them easily? 'ච' for 'chandrikawa'!! Honestly?! rolleyes
