The whole thing started when it began,
Now I'm more than just a fan.
First the manga, then the animation,
A gift passed down, every generation.
I'm speaking of a story filled with destiny and ai,*
About a boy bound for love and an angel that can't fly.
A boy named Daisuke really liked this girl at school,
But she was looking for someone tall, handsome and cool.
She rejected his offer the day he turned one-four,
He felt like she'd torn his heart, then ripped it some more.
He walked his way home, feeling down and depressed,
And was blind to the event that would occur next.
When he stood by his window, he felt really strange,
Little did he know his DNA was in for a change.
He clutched his sides, feeling his body burn,
The path of his life's journey was taking a turn.
Once everything had changed, even his red, spiky hair,
He needed to know what happened, so he ran down the stairs.
"What's going on?!" Daisuke cried, with an exclamation mark,
"Oh my..." his mom said. "You're Phantom Thief Dark!"
"What?" Daisuke said, not having the slightest clue,
His mom smiled and said, "I'll tell you who."
"Dark is a thief" she began, happy to tears,
"He's been in our family for over three hundred years."
"He steals masterpieces with great ease,"
"From our enemy, the sinister clan of Hikaris."
"When you go to steal, you'll need to know a few things,"
"You've already got your training and Wiz as your wings."
"So what do I do?" Daisuke asked, still not knowing.
His curiosity of Dark was gradually growing.
"You steal from art museums," Emiko*'s smile bright,
"Oh, and did I mention that you start tonight?"
"Wha-?!?" Daisuke said, knowing things could only get better,
"I'm sorry sweetie, but I've already sent the warning letter."
Daisuke, now Dark, did as he was told that night,
"I'm so proud," Emiko said, "I knew we raised him right."
Now the concept of change will make your head whirl,
It revolves around Daisuke's "Sacred Maidens," who were two average girls.
They were twins, one named Risa and the other Riku,
He couldn't just have one Maiden, no, he had to have two.
When he got close to Risa, his beloved crush,
His appearance began to alter, his adrenaline in a rush.
Now that he was Dark, he was another man,
But don't think Dark can't love, because he sure as hell can.
The girl he wanted was as forbidden as the Lambada,
It was none other than the elder twin- Riku Harada.
She was off limits, and he knew why,
It's because she labeled him as a hentai*.
Risa, however, liked a certain taker-of-art,
He stole a lot of things, including her heart.
Riku too liked a boy, but he was polite and somewhat shy,
Yep, you guessed it- she liked sweet little Dai.
This goes beyond a simple love triangle,
It's actually the first love quad-riangle.
Of course it cycles, rotates, and shifts,
As they realize how they were blessed with such lovely gifts.
Gifts of passion, gifts of joy,
The simple togetherness of a girl and boy.
So that's the summary, the basic story,
Of those who fight for love and not for glory.
Some are evil, some are pure,
When judging by appearance, you can't be sure.
Two halves make one whole when you have two sides,
They have their differences, therefore they collide.
The light and dark angels aren't held by a tether,
But they are joined by the power of a feather.
I love this anime, I connect with it is as a whole,
For it has left its mark in my heart, my body, and my soul.
