The Journey Begins
A lone traveler takes the first step on a journey.....
Spending time with Shauna...
and am surprised at how much more humanlike she is than troll! She is more adept at communicating than Trolls I have known. Today she took my hand and led me to the window. She seems to want to be outside but the weather has turned frigid again. She watches the mountains as if she's waiting for something to happen. Or perhaps she is looking for someone? She fusses if we take her away from it most of the time, but then there are times she shows no interest in it at all. Her hearing is more adept than mine or any of my staff. Mayhap she hears something? Tis still an aura of mystery surrounding her. Tomorrow if its warmer I shall ride to several of the other foster families and see if thier younglings also act like Shauna.

For now I am content to lose myself in my book of Atlantia. It is very well written and I enjoy reading about an imaginary land of merpeople.

After Yule....
I have taken time to relax and quietly enjoy being at home. Our friends have departed for thier own homes. Our weather has been extremely cold and so I was content to sit by my fire with the hounds.
The foundling has surprised us by showing Troll features! I fear a plot to plant thier orphaned offspring within families to have them raised by others.
Troll younglings are very exspensive to feed! They will eat a whole roe deer at one meal! I have named my female Shauna. She is quite charming when sleeping or happy! When awake she is busy exploring and demanding her own way! She is very strong! I seriously have no idea what to do if she continues to grow TROLL like! Trolls are better than ogres...slightly. Shauna appears more intelligent than trolls I have known. She also has more of a personality. Perhaps she is like myself, a mixture of races? Time shall tell.

The mare, Willow, is doing very well. She has regained her health and allows me to ride her now. The deep snow was helpful there! I led her into deep drifts and leaped unto her back. She was unable to throw me off easily and so has now accepted my weight on her back. She's a beautiful animal! I feel fortunate to have her trust. She's friendly and intelligent. She nickers and waits for me to come out and spend time with her. She is accepting of my pack horses and mule. My riding horse was my father's and is very aged. I can now retire him to pasture. Willow will make a fine mount! I'll finish her training in the Spring.
