I've noticed that a lot of people don't know how to do this or even that it is possible; I've even had to explain this to other mods. gonk It's not quite so important now that friends@gaia is no longer working, but it's still annoying to be on someone's FL when you don't want to be, so I'm putting the instructions up here for anyone who's still interested. 3nodding
First of all, to clear up a misconception, removing someone from your FL does not take you off theirs. I've tested it with my mules; it doesn't work. To remove yourself from someone else's friendslist, this is what you need to do:
1. At the bottom of most pages on Gaia is a section of links called "Gaia A to Z". One of those links is "Friends". Click on it.
2. Near the top right corner it says "Search for User:" and there's a text field. Type or paste the name of the person whose friendslist you want to take yourself off of, and click the button that says "search".
3. You'll now see links to the person's profile, a link to PM them, start a trade, etc. There's also a column called "Relationship"; if you're on their list and they're not on yours, it will say "They're on My List". The column after that is labeled "Select" and has a radio checkbox, click inside it.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see a gray button that says "remove me". Click on it.
Voila! Now you're off their friendslist! blaugh
