I see your hand twitch and a chill runs down my spine. I see you raise your hand and I instinctively close my eyes, thinking you'd hit me just like him. But instead, I felt your warm, coarse palm caressing my cheek. A jolt went through my heart, a shock through my mind, and I looked up into your eyes. Tender, loving care glistened in your irises. As I relaxed, you told me in a firm but gentle voice, "I'd never hit you." I found myself smiling as you smiled at me.
