Alchemy and Backwing Broken Promises |

This is just a collection of my posts regarding the above topic:

"Yeah, I'm pretty much hideously disappointed, and yes, I am referring to the backwings. I've been waiting for them since 2003, and we were promised repeatedly, (if I'm remembering correctly), that they would not be an elite item that only the super-rich could get. And now that is exactly what they are. With the given track records, I really shouldn't be surprised that this happened, but I am beyond disappointed at the complete 180 on past promises. "

"I am seriously disappointed with Alchemy, solely because of the backwings issue. We were promised that they would not be an item only the elite and super-rich could get, and that's exactly what they have become. I have been waiting since 2003 for that one particular item, and I really am surprised and disappointed they were delivered in exactly the opposite manner they were promised.
I do think Alchemy is a good idea in concept, but not implementation. Too many of the ingredients are too expensive or too difficult for someone with a full time job and other responsibilities to invest the time in. I've been visiting this site for years, and made the mistake of checking my Quicken to see how much real money I've donated in that time, and it's been a lot. If that doesn't make me a "hard core" user, I don't know what does, but as it stands the backwings, (and pretty much any other Alchemy item I would be interested in), are out of reach.
This is a new feature that I wanted to be excited for, but instead that excitement has turned to bitter disappointment. Alchemy would be fun, if not for the horrible bitter taste that now knowing I will never own backwings has left in my mouth. It is not something that I will be putting my time, gold, or cash into. "

This one I posted twice in the Official Alchemy Q&A Thread, but only got replies from users, it was conveniently ignored by the devs:
"The only question I have is this: Why was the promise that backwings would be available to all, not just "hard core" users, broken so blatantly?"

With the release of the new Astra Metamorphosis RIG, I posted this, which pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter:
"I also saw them in the Dev notice, and I thought I was quite mollified about the backwings disaster with alchemy ... then I saw they were a RIG. Of course. It's also misleading that the image in the cash shop is of the Crystal Wings, and you can even try them on!! I'm glad I looked close enough to see they were a chance item, so I just bought them off the marketplace.
I'm still super happy with them, despite the delivery method! These wings really are beautiful, and something that makes a good substitute for angelic backwings. I can't help but shake my head and laugh a little at the Gaia team ... they release a feature without thinking it through, them back peddle and try and fix it. Pretty damn good fix, this time, IMO! "
