Ch.1 Pt 1

Life has always been cruel to those that want to live it. What with Earth being invaded and over-run, something that we couldn't help. We mearly have gunpowder while they had machina. My grandfather always said something like this would happen. That humanity had overstayed its welcome. People thought he was crazy. Doesn't seem that way now... does it?
My name is Gabriel. I know it's a weird name and all but my parents liked it at the time I was born. I'm sixteen and already I've been hoisted into the 'Emporer's' army. Their methods are extreme but at least it makes me stronger. Still, I hate them. There's not many of of us left. Bolivians, as they call us are almost extinct.
"Stop writing in that journal Izik," someone whispered to me.
"If we die then who's to tell our story? No one that's who. The least I want to do is die a hero." The sound of metal clicking on metal catches our attention and we looked up.
"KEEP QUIET BEFORE WE ARE CAUGHT!" The guard infront of us screamed. Kind of defeated the purpose, right? If anything, loud-mouth there would get us all killed. Oh did I tell you? The war I'm fighting is a war against my own people. I know it's stupid but I've done my best to get captured and allowed in their rebel army but I can never get away from the retard infront of me...
The gaurd looks down and reads the last few things I wrote. "A RETARD AM I?!"
The cold feel of a muddy boot to my face awoken me from my writing.
