He held the knife in his hand, the blade glinting softly from the dull and weak light that filtered in and around them. She stood in the shadows, out of sight of the man, but her lover knew that she was there. This is what he wanted, how this was supposed to happenThe man who had threatened her life laid on the floor, sweat rolling off him and fear easily seen in his eyes. The man bent down and grabbed the threat by his shirt pulling him close to his face.

Her lover spoke, what he said she could not hear, but the prostrate man fell back and tried in vain to once again escape.

The knife plunged into the skin of his neck, thick rivulets of blood pouring from the gaping wound. The girl stepped out from where she had been hiding and stood next to her lover. Her fingers trailed through his hair, petting lightly as he once again plunged the blade into the other man's body. When the man finally stopped moving the girl's lover stood and faced her. He raised his bloody hands to her and carefully held her face in his hands.
