first, there are two sets of vocaloid. the american ones by yamaha, and the japanese ones by crypton.
this guide will help with both, but mainly the japanese ones
the first thing you need to know is: the names of the characters. i will make a list of the current vocaloids
american:
Prima
Sweet Ann
Big-Al
Sonika (ソニカ)
Miriam
leon
lola
japanese:
Hatsune miku (初音ミク)
Kagamine Rin (kanji currently unknown)
Kagamine Len (kanji currently unknown)
Megurine Luka (巡音ルカ)
Kamui Gakupo (神威がくぽ)
Gumi Megpoid (kanji currently unknown)
Meiko (no kanji avalable)
Kaito (no kanji avalable)
as you can see, the japanese is more popular than the american.
there is another program, utau. but that isn't vocaloid, so that will be covered later
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
now, just knowing the names isn't enough. youtube isnt the only site with vocaloid videos, in fact it's probably the smallest
the best site to find songs and videos on is nico nico deuga. but it is a japanese site and also requires you to make an account to actually view videos. i will make a guide on that later, since making an account and navigating the site can get confusing
since im talking about japanese sites: two firefox add ons you should have are gtranslate and rikaichan; both are translators, and will help a lot when trying to find something on nico deuga. and in addition to that, dont forget to use the sites you know of (like wikipedia japan) to find the kanji for words
also, another important site its [/url (i currently cannot remember the url)
please remember that this is a rough
copy, and will be updated in the future
