A quiet morning...

The wind gusts through my hair as I sit on the wooden windowsill and contemplate the waking sun.

What fortunes will befall upon me...?

Once the first sounds of life filled my ears, I rose silently from my perch and gathered my belongings from the small room I currently occupied, leaving a small amount of currency for the kind host who granted me a place to rest.

I opened the door, various scents flooding my sensitive nose and numerous sounds drowning the thoughts in my mind. I did not mind this; for without the presence of life, my soul would not find comfort in this meager existence.

I curiously observed my surroundings as I walked down the streets of the small town. Shopkeepers meticulously set up their establishments while children made their way to centers of learning. I wondered to myself what path my own life would have taken if I were in their place. Perhaps I would be happier as a grocer, serving the community each day; or maybe as a student, still naive about the world beyond the book.

My thoughts consumed me as I continued a steady pace through the path, stopping only once I reached the outskirts of town. I took one last glance behind me, relishing in the serene aura that permeated every crevice of each building. I wished every place were as peaceful as here; far too many times have I seen the chaotic despair of a torn community.

Beginning my walk once again, I took a deep breath and began to sing a soft melody, wishing the fates continued bestowing their grace upon the townspeople.

Alone we are weak,

But together we are strong.

Through the harshest winds

And the blackest nights,

Our souls remain one.

Our souls remain true...
