The Beginning
This plans to be a story that I've written, please, I need to figure out what's wrong with it!!!
“We should find shelter for the night. It’s not good to stay at this pace for to long, we’ll wear ourselves out and not be able to run the next day.” My dad commanded more than suggested. “Yea let’s find a cave.” As we slowed down, I noticed that there was a cave on our right. “Right there looks good.”
“Yea, let’s go.” When we got in I noticed that it was a lot bigger than it looked. “OK Max time to teach you to sword fight.” My dad said. “OK where do we start?” I asked picking up my sword. “First we need to teach you how to correctly grip the sword. You need a good grip, so if someone comes up to you like this....” Then my dad was no longer three feet away from me but three inches away. Then he grabbed my hand, bent it in the wrong direction and took my sword away from me. “Ahhhhh...Why did you do that?! That really hurt!” So me being stupid, I rush at my dad in complete rage and tripped... “Good job Max, but your first problem was acting in rage. Rage can be helpful, but only if it is under control. So let’s try this again.” As he threw my sword at me I noticed that he was planning to charge me. So I grabbed my sword and moved out of the way. “Good but what if you don’t see your enemy coming?” “Well I would... Ow!”
“Don’t tell me, show me. Again.” My father commanded. Then he was gone. So I moved out of the way and thrust the hilt of my sword down to counter the attack, to find it countered, and my father’s sword hilt shoved deep into my stomach. Then, as I started to fade, my sword emitted a blast of fire from the side and split the largest wall of the cave right into two clean pieces of rock. There was no debris; no rocks crumbling, not even a noise. “Uh dad?” I breathed, afraid to break the silence. “Yea?” He whispered “What just happened?” I asked not as afraid of the silence. “The rock got a huge hole in it. That’s what happened.”
“Yea but how? And why?”
“I don’t know son, I really don’t know.” As I looked at the sword I noticed that it was glowing a deep red. “We had better get some sleep.” I was already asleep before he finished his sentence. The running must have caught up with him.
“Uhhhh... Hey dad, what’s that noise?” I mumbled half asleep. “Uhhhhhh” OK... well dad is officially dead in his sleep. I thought. Well let’s figure out what exactly this noise is. Now me being the scared little kid that I am, I grabbed my sword and went outside. Weird, there’s no noise. No birds, bats, or even water running. It’s like everything is afraid. But what is there to be afraid of? I thought to myself. As I sat there in the night air I decided to practice my sword techniques. Even when I swung my sword as fast as I could no noise would come from it. So I went back into the cave and tried to figure out what forest we were in. As I look at the map I don’t really notice anything familiar around. Well we were last in the Town Of The Blacksmiths, that’s where we met dad’s friend. And we ran south-west for a good three hours. So judging by the speed we were going, I’d say that we were right about...off the map. Of course, the one place that I feel is safe is the one place where neither me nor my dad can tell where we are. But according to this map this forest might just be...The Forest Of The Elves.

“COME TO THE CENTER OF THE FOREST,
I WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU”

Wait did the voice mean the Forest of the Elves, or another forest? Hmmmm, well that’s something to think about. Then I heard a sound. Weird…why is there sound now?. So me being the scared little boy, I ventured outside with my sword. “Who’s there?” I asked loudly. “Why must you know?” Behind me!! “Who are you!?” No one’s there!!! But I could have sworn that there was a person behind me. “That sword, put it away.”
“Why should I leave myself unprotected?” I asked hoping to get more than a riddle out of the person interrogating me. “For I am here to protect you. Also your sword shines in the moonlight like the sun pierces darkness.” Said the voice, it was not harsh, but it was very calm, like it knew it could get what it came for. “What do you want?” I asked the voice. “I want you and your father to come with me to my house Edigido.” It said like it knew that when it called me Edigido that I would give in...And I did. As I put my sword away reluctantly, it became much darker than I thought it was. Wow the voice was right; my sword really did light up the forest. “Come Max, your father will awaken in a second, get your things together and we will go to a shelter much more fitting for our meeting.” The voice was really nervous. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not, but weird things happen when I am around. When I got my stuff packed, I noticed that my dad was already packed. “Come on Max I’ve got a bad feeling about this place.” “It’s okay dad, there is a person out there willing to help us.” I said a little too confident. “How can you be so sure?” He asked nervously “I just have this feeling that the person will help us.” I said, a bit surer of my answer. “Okay, well let’s go.” Wow, my dad is really going out on a limb. I mean really, agreeing to do something he doesn’t even sure is the right thing to do. “Come Max, Jake, we must move carefully. Do not worry; I will not let you fall.” As we walked I had my hand on my sword the entire time, as did my dad. Even though I could not see the path in front of me, I knew where the roots were. I also began to hear a faint humming the more we walked. “Brace yourselves; there will be a bright light which we must walk into. But do not be afraid, you will not be harmed.” Right as we walked into the light I shut my eyes. “Welcome to the Forest of the Elves.” Wow, so we were in the Eleven Forest. I thought so.

As we walked there seemed to be no houses. “Um, where are the houses?” I asked our Elven friend. “All the trees are the houses. That’s also why the trees are so tall, and wide. If you were to look closer you would see stairs winding around the trees. There are many families living in each tree.” He explained. “Come, I will take you to where you will stay.” As we walked, I was constantly looking around. The trees, they just didn’t seem to end, they just kept on going and going until they touched the clouds. “By the way my name is Allele.” Said our elfish friend. Allele was the kind of person that looked like he was always relaxed. Even when we were in the woods talking, he seemed really calm. It was really creepy. He had about shoulder length blonde hair, and was dressed in an off-white gown. He didn’t have any weapons with him. But wait, why wasn’t he armed in the forest. His plan could have backfired, and he could have been killed.

“We elves don’t believe in violence. Yes, we have our ways of protecting us if we need to, but we believe in peace.” It’s like he read my mind. I don’t know if he did it on purpose, or if it was a complete accident. The more we walked the lighter it seemed to get. After leagues of walking, we finally stopped. “Now I’m sorry Jake, but I need to borrow Max for a little bit. Don’t worry he will have his sword with him, and he is better with steel than most...Now, come Max.” My dad just nodded and sat down...then had to suddenly jump up because someone was coming out of their “tree-house”.

“Now Edigido.” Allele said very urgently while keeping a steady pace. “Please don’t call me that, it makes me uncomfortable.” I said kind of embarrassed. “Do you not like how your life is going?” He asked, poking and prodding to get a reaction out of me. He got what he wanted “Oh, I love how my life is going. First, my dad and I are run from Blaze at tree splitting speed, and Blaze kills himself on my sword. Then not ten days later, my dad gets hit in the back of the head, and is dead. So I start running, but when I stop, I’m in this new world...”
“Time.” Allele interrupted. “What?” I asked, “New time I said. You were running so fast that you broke the time cycle and ran into the future.” He explained, “Continue.”
“Well when I woke up, there was a woman yelling at me in a weird language. And she kicked me out of her house, along with my effects. Then another woman came and took me to the woods, and also gets a strange hole in the back of her head. So I get scared and start running through time again, but this time I was able to stay focused, there were all of these shapes and colors all around all coming from the direction I was running in. Then another man also named Max punches me right out of my run, and into a solid cliff and I, of course, am knocked unconscious again. When I woke up, a woman was talking to the other Max, and looking at me weird. When she tries to heal me, the other Max stops her and tells her to leave it to him. So they get in a little fight and she ends up scaring me so much that I faint. When I woke up again, I noticed that I was completely healed. That’s when I get sucked back through time to before my dad died, and after Blaze committed suicide. So yea I love my life.” I explained trying to catch my breath, and look around a little. Wait...is that the older Max? When I looked again, there was no one there. “What?” Allele asks me. “Well I thought that I...oh never mind.” I just gave up and enjoyed our walk.

“OK. In the room right after this door, is the leader of the elves who’s name is Solomon. Please do not get angry with him. He will call you Edigido as will every one else in this forest. He will speak in Elfish so I have been asked to translate.” He looked worried. As we started to walk in the air became cool and crisp. There was no noise; it reminded me of when we first met Blaze.

“Come here Edigido.”

What was that voice again? I asked myself. “Edigido, the king wants you to come closer.” Allele said. The closer I walked, the lighter the surrounding area seemed to get.

“OK, that’s good. Stay there for the time being, Allele leave us.”

“But sir, I was told to stay here and translate for him.” Allele looked outraged.

“Yes, but he understands me quite well, don’t you Edigido?”

“Yes, I do. Although I do not know why.” I said quite confused. As Allele left I noticed that he looked quite relieved to have left.

“Now, Edigido. I know how you understand me,
But now is not the time to tell you,
First I must tell you that my real name is Thorn.”

“Wait, that’s the man’s name that was in the future.” I exclaimed.

“Oh, so you have gone to the future.
I however am not that same man.”

“But he looked much younger than you.”

“Yes I haven’t had my potion in a while.
Don’t worry; I’ll drink it in a couple of minutes.
First you will have to come closer.”

As I was walking closer to him, he started to drink his potion. He got younger and younger until he looked like the man from the future. “Now this is going to feel really weird, but I’m going to go into your mind.” Thorn said. “Ah! You talked.” I said. “Yes so did you, now hold still.” As he touched my head I became really light-headed and closed my eyes.

When I opened them I was in what looked like a house with many doors in it. As I started to walk around I noticed that there were other people there. Then I saw Thorn. “Hey Thorn, wait up.” I exclaimed. “Wait, aren’t you supposed to me in my head?” I asked, “I am, and so are you.” He explained. “Wait how is that possible? I can’t be in two places at once, it’s impossible.” I said. Then Thorn just started to laugh, I mean a gut-busting laugh. “What’s so funny? You can’t be in two places at once, it’s a fact.” I almost yelled. “Yes, it’s true that you can’t be in two places at once. But the problem is that you are in two places at once. I’ve done many things that are impossible; flying, walking through walls. Some things that are you have already done are also impossible.” Thorn stated. “Like what?” I asked, “Like going through time, and running at many times the speed of sound.”
“Yea, but that still doesn’t answer my question.” I stated. “Well, now that we’ve talked, and I’ve been in your mind, I will direct you to where you and your father can stay.” “Wait, were back in real life?” I asked. “Yes we are, follow me.” As we walked out of the thrown room, it seemed to get really dark.

“How was it?” My father asked, “It was just like talking to you, but it wasn’t you, it was the ruler of the Elves.”
“Oh...well that’s good.” It got really uncomfortable to talk to my dad after that point. So we just followed Allele for a while. “Here is where you will stay, there are cleaning utensils if you wish to bathe, and there are beds in which you can sleep.” He said. “Thanks. Um...where can we look at supplies and weapons for our journey?” I asked. “Don’t worry, Solomon will provide you with all the supplies you will need.” He explained. And with that I went to bath. As I stepped into the tub the water was warm. I sat there and soaked for hours. Then, when I was done, there were clean clothes waiting for me when I got out.

When I re-entered the sleeping chamber my dad ran to the tub, needing to be cleaned. While my dad was cleaning himself, I looked around the area. There were many books in Elfish that I understood, but had never even seen. In no time I had learned many things about Elfish history, and had looked at new sword techniques. Then I went to get my sword, and as I waved it around a little it seemed like the same plain old sword I had always had. Regular bronze hilt, same silver blade. As I went to bed I checked in on my dad to make sure he wasn’t asleep in the bath-tub. “What?! Leave me alone!” He yelled. He must be really comfy. I thought. Then I went and laid in the softest bed I had ever been in.
When I woke up I looked in the bed next to me to make sure my dad was not still in the tub, from the night before, he wasn’t. “Dad, dad, dad. What am I going to do with you?” I asked out loud. The first thing I did when I left the hut was look around for Allele. It felt wrong for some reason, nothing felt right. I looked around forever then decided to head back to the hut. When I got there, Allele was sitting there, waiting for me. “There you are. I was wondering when you were going to get back from your little walk. Solomon wishes to speak to you.”

“Edigido, welcome back. I must speak with you.” He sounded urgent. “OK.” As we walked to a different room that we were in yesterday, I noticed that there were weird little metal things that all around. “Edigido, I am not from this time area. I am from a less distant time than the one you were in, but farther in the future than a couple of days from here. I am telling you this because; I know what is going to happen. There are these things called Cyborgs.” As he said Cyborg, he held out his hand to show what they looked like. They looked like metal humans. “They were originally made to help the Elves develop new weapons, and make advances easier. But the Cyborgs have malfunctioned....they aren’t doing what they are supposed to. They’re destroying the buildings, and killing the Elves. I don’t know why, but they are. That’s why I came to get you. You can kill the Cyborgs you just don’t know how. You saw all of the techniques that were in that book right? Well don’t use them; they don’t work against the Cyborgs. Do what you think is right. Okay?...cool.”

As he showed me out of the door, I tried to understand what he just said. So, what did he want me to do? He wanted me to destroy these things called Cyborgs. Okay...that shouldn’t be too hard. While I was walking around I noticed that there were these things that were attacking the buildings, and trees. As I got closer they looked like the Cyborg things that Thorn had shown me. So I charged at them. I just started to slash at them with my sword. Then I noticed that my sword wasn’t doing anything. So as I backed away I noticed that the Cyborgs were following me. Not really knowing what I was doing, I stuck my hand out in front of me and muttered some gibberish that was in one of the books I read. “Raeppasid” Then the Cyborgs were gone. Now here I am not really sure how or why I did that. And I sat there dumbfounded. So I started to say little things that came to my head, and the Cyborgs were gone. Right as I was done mumbling, I blacked out.

“Oh crap I was to late what do you think is going to happen to him Thorn?” a voice asked. “Probably absorb your first form.” Thorn said. “Phoenix...” said the voice.
