Chess


Chess was where
I found a friend
and a conversation
that would never end.


We played the game
many times
and every time
he won.


We quit playing
but we kept talking.
We talked day after day
for hours and hours,


But day after day
we talked less and less.
Till one day
we talked no more.


We are still friends
and will always be,
but we will never
talk and talk,


Like we did before
for we ran out
of stuff to say,
but we still talk


Just not as much
as before,
instead we talk
every once in awhile


So chess was where
I found a friend
And a conversation
that would never really end.
