Reaching Me

The wind beats on the wall, like my fists do to the door
Falling down to cry, as my knees hit the floor
Nobody to guide me, this empty house echoes
No allies to hide me, the city's now a ghetto
Lost within the raptures of my own lost soul
Searching through old pictures, the air's become so cold
The telephone rings, I walk silently in fear,
The sound of Bring, brring, reaching my two ears
I hold up the receiver, hands shaking slightly
"Hello?" I whisper, words coming out slowly
"Hi, are you okay? You don't sound too good..."
I hear somebody whisper, in a calm and caring mood
"I'm fine..." I start to say, taking a deep breath
I stop short, then think quietly, of a lonely death
"Not really..." I tell the voice, trying not to cry
The voice tries to comfort me, make me feel alright
"Do you need something? What's wrong?" the voice tries to console me
"Can you come over? I'm so alone; it's one very long story."
In ten minutes, I see, through my effervescent tears,
Someone here to hold me for a thousand years,
They speak serenely with the voice,
Reaching so calmly above all the noise
