Means "she-wolf", a derivative of Old Norse úlfr "wolf".
~I've decided that Tae-kia is from a race called Ylva, part human, part wolf. The fact that they were part wolf scared people, mostly because of werewolf legends, etc. So her people have been shunned for centuries. Tae-kia was abandoned when she was young because her parents were slaughtered. She stumbled through the woods for days untill she came upon a wolf pack. They raised her as one of their own. For 7 years (till she was 10) she lived with them. Finally, out of curiosity, she trekked through the forest in search of adventure. After leaving the cover of trees, she was found by a group of traveling entertainers. She was in her human form, so no one knew what she was. They took her in, and she became one of them. But she had to keep hidden in the night, or else they would discover her true identity (under the cover of the night sky, the ylva take their wolf form). One night, a young juggler followed her. He wanted to see why she left every night. He saw her. He saw her, but as a wolf, not a person. He told the rest of the group and they tried to hunt her down. She escaped, but from that day forward, she could tell no one of her past, or else she would have to disappear again.~
